The Migishi Kotaro Museum of Art, Hokkaido, opened at its present location in central Sapporo in 1983. It was originally founded as the Hokkaido Museum of Art in 1967 with the donation of 220 works by the Hokkaido-born artist Migishi Kotaro (1903-34) from his family.
