This area is a vast high-altitude plain on the mountain ridge, situated approximately 1,633 meters above sea level. It is covered with Triple-needle pines (named after the three needles that grow in each cluster). The "Pine Field" also serves as a natural border between Thailand and Laos, marked clearly by a border stone. During the rainy season, the entire field is beautifully covered with purple Muranne flowers.
