The Ubosot of Wat Phra Yuen

The Ubosot (Ordination Hall) of Wat Phra Yuen is a prominent Lanna-style building located to the west of the main standing Buddha stupa. The architecture features a multi-tiered roof covered with terracotta tiles and an exquisitely carved gable (na ban) with floral motifs and gold leaf, typical of Lamphun craftsmanship. Inside, the hall enshrines a Buddha image in the Subduing Mara posture as the principal image. The interior is decorated with murals and Buddhist art depicting religious stories. This hall serves as the primary venue for Sangha activities and is historically linked to the spread of Lankavamsa Buddhism from Sukhothai to Lanna through the venerable monk Phra Sumanathera.
