Nang Sao Temple

Nang Sao Temple is a well-known ancient temple in Samut Sakhon Province. It’s celebrated for its historical Maha Ud Ordination Hall, an architectural rarity with only one entrance and no windows, traditionally used for consecrating sacred objects and mystical rituals. The temple's name originates from a legend of love and gratitude involving two sisters who fled war and sought refuge here; the younger sister, an unmarried Nang Sao, vowed to build a temple as an offering to the Buddha if they survived. Today, the temple serves as a spiritual center where devotees come to worship Luang Phor Dam, a sacred Buddha image by the Tha Chin River, while admiring the unique junk-ship-shaped architecture and the serene, shaded riverside scenery.
