The Weeping Pillar (Sao Rong Hai) is a large Hopea odorata log enshrined at Wat Sung in Sao Hai District, Saraburi, which according to local legend, is inhabited by a female spirit who wept after the pillar was passed over during the selection for the main pillar of the Grand Palace in Bangkok during the reign of King Rama I. Local villagers reported hearing muffled crying sounds emanating from the log at night, leading to a formal ceremony to retrieve the pillar from the Pa Sak River and enshrine it at the temple for public veneration. Today, it stands as a revered sacred object where many come to seek blessings and good fortune, reflecting the deep-seated spiritual beliefs and the rich historical tapestry of the local community.
