The Chinese Shrine

Architectural Features

  • Traditional Chinese Pavilion: A stunning two-story masonry building exquisitely decorated with classical Chinese art. The structure is characterized by its vibrant red and gold color palette, featuring intricate dragon motifs and traditional Chinese altar furnishings.

  • Prime Waterfront Location: Situated directly on the banks of the Chao Phraya River at the Bang Kacha confluence. This spot is renowned for its refreshing river breezes and is historically significant as the legendary site where the Princess’s royal junk (ship) was anchored.

Spiritual Layout

  • Ground Floor: This level is dedicated to Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy). Worshippers visit this floor to pray for compassion, peace, and auspicious blessings in accordance with Chinese spiritual beliefs.

  • Upper Floor: The most sacred part of the shrine, housing the statue of Princess Soi Dok Mak (affectionately called "Ah-Nia" by the Chinese community). To show respect to her royal spirit, visitors are required to remove their shoes and maintain a solemn, respectful demeanor upon entering this sanctuary.
