The Vultures of Saket Temple Memorial

This memorial tells the story of a historical tragedy during the reign of King Rama II, when a major cholera epidemic broke out. Due to the overwhelming number of deaths, bodies could not be cremated in time and were brought to Wat Saket, leading to the legend of "The Vultures of Saket Temple". Today, statues of vultures have been created as a reminder of the truth of life and the importance of mindfulness regarding mortality. The area provides a quiet atmosphere that encourages reflection on this significant chapter of Bangkok's history.
