The Production Process of Soft Prepared Chalk: From Soil to Pure White Powder
Digging the Soil: The process begins by excavating marl soil (white clay) from the ground and placing it into a resting pit called a Bo Din.
Creating the Slurry: Water is added to the pit, and the mixture is stirred by hand or machine until the clay dissolves into a fine liquid slurry.
Filtering: The slurry is filtered through a sieve to remove pebbles and debris, then poured into a filtration tank to let the clay sediment.
Dropping: Once the clay reaches the right consistency, it is put into cloth bags and Dropped onto canvases in open fields to form small, cone-shaped pieces.
Sun-Drying: The pieces are left to dry completely under natural sunlight, which helps sterilize the chalk and gives it its soft white appearance.
