Li District is the largest district in Lamphun Province, covering nearly half of its total area and located at its southernmost tip. It is renowned as the "City of Saints" for being the birthplace of Kruba Srivichai, the Patron Saint of Lanna, and home to significant temples associated with revered monks, such as Wat Ban Pang, Wat Phra Phutthabat Huay Tom, and Wat Phra Phutthabat Pha Nam. Historically, the district encompasses ancient settlements like Old City of Li or Wiang Ha Lang, tied to the legend of Princess Jamari, who fled from Luang Prabang to found the city. The topography is characterized by lush mountains and forests, featuring prominent natural attractions like Mae Ping National Park.
