Marble Buddha Image

The Marble Buddha images are statues in the subduing Mara attitude, crafted from pure white marble sourced from Mandalay, Myanmar. They are enshrined within the ordination hall and viharn of Wat Sa Bo Kaeo in Phrae Province, a temple renowned for its well-preserved Burmese Buddhist art. These statues exhibit graceful features with human-like countenances typical of the Mandalay style, often adorned with exquisite golden decorations. Their presence reflects the history of the teak logging era in Phrae, during which Burmese merchants who settled in the area commissioned and invited these sacred images from their homeland to serve as spiritual anchors.
