Wat Sri Chum

Wat Sri Chum is the largest and most complete among the 31 Myanmar-style temples in Thailand. Located in Mueang Lampang, it was built in 1890 by U Yo, a wealthy Burmese timber merchant who accompanied the British during Lampang's teak industry era. Its landscape is characterized by a half-concrete, half-wood viharn featuring multi-tiered roofs in the Burmese style and a golden stupa (bell-shaped) in the Burmese-Mon style, enshrining holy relics from Myanmar. The temple reflects the prosperity of the Burmese community in Lampang and deep religious devotion expressed through exquisite wood carvings.
