Statue of Noritsugu Hayakawa

Located within Ginza Subway Station, this bronze bust honors Noritsugu Hayakawa, the "Father of the Subway." He founded the Tokyo Underground Railway Company and opened Asia's first subway line in 1927. Created by sculptor Asakura Fumio, the statue commemorates Hayakawa’s vision of bringing modern underground transit to Tokyo. It serves as a tribute to his pioneering role in Japanese infrastructure and can be found near the central concourse of the Ginza Line.
