Walls and Structures

The walls of the royal residence are constructed from exceptionally thick brick and mortar to support the European-style structure. A key feature is the arched windows shaped like a lotus bud or "Na Nang" curve, a signature of late Ayutthaya art. The wall construction employs French bricklaying techniques, providing strength and durability to withstand the elements. Despite the passage of centuries, most of the walls still stand tall, showcasing the high quality of the ancient mortar used to bond the bricks. In the past, these walls were adorned with exquisite stucco motifs and featured niches carved out for lamps to illuminate the pavilion at night.
