According to ancient chronicles, Phra Sukka Thanta Rishi was a highly virtuous hermit with immense spiritual powers who resided at Khao Samo Khon. In ancient times, this mountain was believed to be a hub of knowledge and a dwelling for powerful hermits. He is deeply significant as the mentor of King Kosirai and a spiritual companion of Phra Sutheva Rishi of Doi Suthep. His most crucial historical role was inviting Princess Chama Thevi from Lavo (Lopburi) to travel north and rule the Kingdom of Hariphunchai (Lamphun), following the request of Phra Sutheva Rishi. Furthermore, he is revered as a supreme master who imparted wisdom to countless disciples, making Khao Samo Khon the Taxila (great learning center) of the central region during that era.
