Sukka Thanta Rishi is a legendary hermit of immense spiritual power and a pivotal figure in Thai chronicles. He resided at the Khao Samo Khon Academy, which in ancient times served as a Taxila—a prestigious center of learning for various arts, sciences, and governance. He was the mentor to many prominent historical figures and a close spiritual peer of Phra Sutheva Rishi of Doi Suthep. Together, they played a crucial role in founding the Hariphunchai Kingdom (Lamphun) and inviting Princess Chama Thevi of Lavo (Lopburi) to become its first ruler. Today, followers and believers frequently visit Wat Khao Samo Khon to pay respects to his statue, believing him to be a supreme master who grants wisdom, career success, and mastery over all forms of knowledge.
