Classification of Steel Sections

Engineers used heavy Hot-Rolled Steel for the main arch members to handle the vibration of the Torokko trains.

  • Built-up Sections: Because of the bridge's size, many of the "beams" are actually multiple steel plates welded or bolted together to form massive box shapes for extra rigidity.
