Iwakura: The Ancient Foundation of the Gods
Nestled between the Kirihara-sui spring and Kasuga Shrine, this Iwakura – a sacred rock – acts as a primordial spiritual anchor. In times before permanent structures, such stones were considered natural vessels where deities descended. Its moss-covered, weathered façade embodies the oldest form of Shinto worship, anchoring the millennium-old wooden architecture to the raw, eternal energy of the earth.
