The Sacred Honden of Ujigami-jinja

A UNESCO World Heritage site and Japan’s oldest original shrine building, dating to approximately 1060. The Honden utilizes a unique nagare-zukuri architectural style, housing three inner sanctuaries beneath a single, elegant cypress-bark roof. It remains a pinnacle of Heian-period craftsmanship, standing as a tranquil testament to ancient Shinto tradition and spiritual history.
