The Father of the Royal Thai Navy

The title "The Father of the Royal Thai Navy" is an honorary title bestowed upon Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, the Prince of Chumphon, to commemorate his royal grace in laying the foundation for Thailand’s modern naval affairs according to international standards, particularly through the establishment of the Royal Thai Naval Academy and the development of navigation curricula that enabled Thais to command warships without foreign reliance. His brilliance not only protected the nation’s maritime sovereignty during crises but also made him a spiritual anchor known as "Sadej Tia", who showed boundless mercy toward all sailors and fishermen. His significance is etched in history and honored annually on Abhakara Day, May 19th, to pass on his legacy and the pride of the Royal Thai Navy's prestige to future generations.
