The Three Buddhas

The three main Buddhas in the Main Shrine of Fo Guang Shan represent the spiritual heart of Mahayana Buddhism, each with a profound meaning: Shakyamuni Buddha (Center): The historical Buddha and teacher of our current world, focusing on the truths of life and the path to liberation. Amitabha Buddha (Left): The Buddha of the Infinite Light and the Western Pure Land (Sukhavati), known for boundless compassion and guiding souls to peace. Bhaisajyaguru Buddha (Right): The Medicine Buddha or Supreme Healer, who vowed to cure sentient beings of both physical and mental ailments. Together, these three Buddhas symbolize compassion spanning the past, present, and future, offering holistic protection for both the body and mind of devotees.
