The Golden Scale Legend
The name "Kinrin" (Golden Scales) was coined in 1884 by philosopher Guso Mori. While bathing nearby, he saw a fish jump and its scales shimmered like gold in the sunset. Today, the lake remains a symbol of Yufuin’s natural beauty and its peaceful, shimmering waters.
