The Hot and Cold Paradox
The most fascinating aspect of the lake's water is its dual source. Both cold spring water and hot thermal water (Onsen) flow simultaneously into the basin. This constant mixing maintains a relatively high water temperature throughout the year, preventing the lake from ever freezing and creating the signature morning steam.
