The Jigen-do is a small but historically significant hall located on a hill within Kita-in. It is the mausoleum dedicated to Jigen Daishi (the honorary title of High Priest Tenkai). Tenkai was a powerful advisor to the first three Tokugawa shoguns and played a vital role in rebuilding the temple after a great fire. The hall's architecture is elegant and solemn, reflecting the high status Tenkai held during the Edo period.
