“Designed by the Fine Arts Department, the shrine consists of five prangs connected by corridors, representing unity and balance. The city pillar, made from Cassia Fistula wood, follows the ancient royal tradition. Inside is the City’s Destiny Plate, an auspicious gold leaf plate blessed by His Majesty King Rama IX on September 12, 1996.”

The City Pillar Shrine of Sa Kaeo stands as a symbol of loyalty, unity, and spiritual strength for the people of the province. It was constructed to embody harmony and prosperity for the region.

The shrine’s foundation ceremony took place on September 12, 1996, when His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) graciously blessed the city pillar and the golden Destiny Plate. The pillar was officially raised and installed on September 25, 1996, marking the spiritual heart of the province.

The shrine was designed by the Architecture Division of the Fine Arts Department, showcasing five prangs—one main central prang surrounded by four smaller ones representing the four cardinal directions. The main prang measures 6.60 meters wide and 19.10 meters high, adorned with intricate carvings inspired by Khmer art blended with local Thai elements.

The city pillar, carved from Cassia Fistula wood, symbolizes auspicious power and enduring stability according to royal tradition. Within the main chamber lies the golden City’s Destiny Plate, a sacred object blessed by His Majesty, representing the spiritual fortune of Sa Kaeo.

Located inside the peaceful Kanchanaphisek Park, the shrine is surrounded by lush greenery, making it an ideal destination for both spiritual worship and relaxation. Visitors often come to pay respects and pray for good fortune, stability, and success in their lives.
