“The shrine features a stunning two-tiered Thai-style pavilion with a prang-shaped spire. Inside stands the sacred city pillar carved from golden teakwood. Nearby is the Nine Revered Monks Pavilion, where visitors can pay homage to nine highly respected monks of the province.”

The City Pillar Shrine of Sing Buri is one of the most important spiritual landmarks of the province, representing stability, prosperity, and unity. The shrine’s architecture is a beautiful example of traditional Thai design — a two-tiered pavilion with a prang-shaped roof, four entrances, and intricate decorative details. The main city pillar is carved from golden teakwood, carefully crafted by local artisans to reflect both beauty and sanctity.

The official inauguration ceremony of the shrine took place on Thursday, August 9, 2001, presided over by Phra Dhammapanyabodi (Thaworn Tissānukaro), the abbot of Wat Pho (Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararam) in Bangkok. The construction was made possible through the collective faith and contributions of the people of Sing Buri, symbolizing the deep spiritual bond between the shrine and the community.

Today, the shrine is not only a religious site but also a cultural and historical center. Visitors come to pay homage for blessings of good fortune, stability in life and career, and overall prosperity. The nearby Nine Revered Monks Pavilion (Sala Kao Singha Kechi Achan) houses statues of nine venerated monks, allowing visitors to make merit and receive blessings in one visit.

The surroundings are beautifully landscaped, providing a peaceful atmosphere for reflection and relaxation. The shrine also serves as a symbol of unity and faith, reflecting the devotion and cultural pride of the people of Sing Buri.
