“Shopping and entertainment area built with Italian architecture. Good atmosphere. There are relaxation areas such as gardens, fountains, and a multipurpose area for performances or music.”

Palio Khao Yai is a retail village project inspired by the architecture and rural atmosphere of Tuscany, Italy, particularly the reconstruction of the small old town of Siena, which is the origin of the name 'Palio' (Palio), the name of Siena's famous horse race festival.

Initial Concept

  • Inspiration: The project's main concept is to create the atmosphere of a medieval Italian village, allowing visitors to experience strolling through cobblestone, brick, and mortar alleys in warm tones, complemented by colorful buildings, wooden balconies, flower arrangements, and Mediterranean architectural details.

Project Details and Key Components

  • Area: The project is constructed on approximately 7-10 rai (based on initial references) and strategically allocated with spacious plazas, pedestrian walkways, and green spaces.

Architectural Elements

  • Clock Tower: The symbol and landmark of the project, located in the heart of the model village.

  • Fountain Plaza: A large plaza surrounded by shops, centered around a fountain. It is a gathering place for people and a space for events.

  • Shops: At its peak, Palio boasted over 100 shops, covering a wide range of products and services, including fashion boutiques, accessories, coffee shops, Italian and Thai restaurants, souvenir shops, art, and OTOP products.

Purpose: Palio is not only a shopping center but also positioned as an architectural tourist attraction and outdoor photography studio, highly popular with couples seeking pre-wedding photos and tourists seeking beautiful scenery.

Current Situation

  • Prosperity: Palio was one of Khao Yai's earliest landmarks, gaining immense popularity between 2010 and 2017, during the boom of "foreign architecture replication" tourism.

  • Recent Situation: Although the recent development of numerous new projects and changes in the economic and tourism sectors have led to a decrease in the number of shops and visitors, the architectural structure and layout remain beautiful and unique, making Palio Khao Yai a well-known and attractive destination for photography enthusiasts and those seeking an Italian atmosphere.
