“A limestone island named after the strong currents that require a rope for support, with the beauty of colorful soft corals as its highlight”

Ko Chueak is one of the main destinations for exploring Trang’s marine areas. Although it is a small limestone island without a beach, its underwater world is full of beauty and biodiversity, earning recognition as one of the best snorkeling spots in the province.

The name "Ko Chueak" comes from the strong currents around the island, which require guides and snorkelers to use a rope tied from the boat into the water as a holding point while snorkeling or resting at the surface for safety and convenience to observe the coral below.

Underwater, Ko Chueak is filled with soft corals in various colors, hard corals, sea anemones, and schools of fish, making it a complete marine ecosystem. The surrounding area is also part of the coral reef restoration project under Hat Chao Mai National Park, making it both a tourist attraction and a conservation area at the same time.

Ko Chueak is a popular stop on the Trang 4 Islands One Day Trip. Visitors depart from main piers such as Pak Meng Pier or Chao Mai Pier, with travel times around 1–1.5 hours, depending on the type of boat and sea conditions. Due to strong currents, swimmers who are not confident should hold onto the rope at all times and strictly follow the guide’s instructions for safety.

The best season for snorkeling is from November to May, when the sea is calm and underwater visibility is optimal, allowing clear views of the coral.

To preserve the environment, visitors should avoid touching or standing on the coral and must not litter into the sea, as this area is part of a national park and a sensitive marine ecosystem.
