“A waterfall approximately 10–20 meters high, easily accessible because it is located directly beside the main road. It is a popular rest stop for cooling off during trips to the Trang sea.”

Ang Thong Waterfall is a single-tier waterfall standing roughly 10–20 meters tall, with water flowing down from the mountains into a large natural pool below. The distinctive feature of this waterfall lies in the mineral-rich or naturally yellow-black stones found around the waterfall. When sunlight strikes the water’s surface, it creates a shimmering, faint golden reflection—an appearance that inspired the name “Ang Thong.”

In the past, Ang Thong Waterfall was regarded as a sacred site in local belief. Today, it has been developed into a recreational area featuring pavilions and seating areas for visitors. It remains popular among travelers because it is located along the main route leading to key marine tourist attractions in Trang, such as Pak Meng Beach and Chao Mai Beach.

During the dry season (such as in April), the water flow may decrease dramatically and, on rare occasions, stop entirely—a phenomenon seldom seen in recent years. Visitors planning to come during extremely dry periods are advised to check current water conditions to avoid disappointment.

How to Get There
  • Private Car: Ang Thong Waterfall is located along the Trang–Sikao Road (Highway 4046), about 21 km from Trang City. Visitors can drive directly to the site since it sits beside the main road.
  • Public Transport: Visitors can take an air-conditioned minivan or local bus running the Trang–Sikao or Trang–Pak Meng routes. Inform the driver to stop at Ang Thong Waterfall, which is located right along the roadside.

Travel Tips
  • Enjoy cooling off in the natural pool (when water levels are sufficient), nature photography, or relaxing in the pavilion areas.

  • The best time to visit is during the rainy season or just after (around November–January), when the waterfall has the strongest flow.

  • If swimming, be cautious of the pool’s depth, which can reach 3–4 meters.
