“Home to the first Canopy Walkway in southern Thailand, offering a unique opportunity to explore rare tropical rainforest ecosystems from above the forest canopy.”

Thung Khai Botanical Garden covers nearly 2,600 rai of pristine tropical rainforest and is located in Yan Ta Khao District, Trang Province. The garden is managed by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and serves as an important center for the study, conservation, and collection of valuable tropical rainforest plant species native to southern Thailand.

The garden has been thoughtfully developed to support eco-tourism and environmental education, with several key attractions and activities:

Canopy Walkway: The signature highlight of the garden. This suspended walkway stretches over 175 meters in length and rises 10–18 meters above ground level, allowing visitors to walk among the treetops. From this elevated perspective, visitors can observe rainforest biodiversity, forest structure, and wildlife in a truly immersive way.

Nature Study Trails: Several walking trails guide visitors through different forest ecosystems, such as palm forest areas, peat swamp forest, and medicinal plant zones. Informational signs along the trails provide botanical knowledge and ecological insights.

Plant Conservation and Research Zones: The garden is divided into themed sections showcasing plant species categorized for conservation and scientific research. This makes Thung Khai Botanical Garden an ideal destination for both relaxation and learning in a natural setting.

How to Get There
  • By private car: Drive south from Trang town for approximately 20 kilometers via the Trang–Yan Ta Khao or Trang–Palian Road. Then turn onto Route 4040. The botanical garden is located directly along the main road.
  • By public transport: Take a minivan or local bus heading to Yan Ta Khao District or Palian District and inform the driver that you wish to stop at Thung Khai Botanical Garden.

Travel Tips
  • Allow at least 2–3 hours for your walk through the gardens and across the canopy walkway to fully immerse yourself in the rainforest atmosphere.
  • Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes as some sections of the trails may be damp, especially after rain.
  • Morning is the best time to explore the gardens as the weather is cooler and you'll have a better chance of spotting wildlife and birds.
  • Bring drinking water, a hat, or an umbrella, and strictly follow the garden rules. Refrain from picking plants or disturbing the natural environment to help preserve this protected area.
