“A strategic area combining premium luxury stays and beachfront golfing with the serenity of mangroves and the oldest community heritage on Koh Chang.”
Klong Son Bay is located at the northernmost tip of Koh Chang's west coast, serving as a vital geographical and ecological junction. The bay's structure is a semi-enclosed cove, ensuring calm waters year-round. It is uniquely divided into two distinct zones: the Luxury Residential Zone (Siam Royal View), featuring a pristine northern beach and a championship golf course, and the Klong Son Village Zone, home to one of the island's most established communities. The central canal flows through the heart of the village, creating a fertile estuary and mangrove system that acts as a primary nursery for marine life.
The uniqueness in balance between development and nature makes Klong Son Bay a model for island management. The beach features a very gentle slope, allowing for extensive sandflats during low tide. A natural standout is Koh Mapring, a picturesque islet at the bay's mouth, easily accessible by kayak. Culturally, Wat Klong Son remains the spiritual pillar for residents, with architecture reflecting traditional seafaring styles. The surrounding lush orchards are famous for producing Trat’s specialty fruits, like pineapples and rambutans, demonstrating a resilient agricultural heritage.
In terms of natural lifestyle and atmosphere, Klong Son Bay acts as an oasis that preserves a slower pace of life. Despite being the first stop after arriving by ferry, its tranquility stands in stark contrast to the busier southern beaches. Within the canal, you can observe rare traditional fishing practices as colorful small boats navigate the tides against a backdrop of vibrant mangroves. The inland areas are cooled by mountain breezes that sweep through original orchards, providing fresh air and a relaxed environment throughout the day.
For explorers and nature artists, the area around Klong Son Bay offers a wealth of inspiration. From uniquely shaped sandstone formations hidden along the coast to the play of light through mangrove leaves on the still canal water, the scenery is captivating. The community atmosphere, featuring old wooden temples and narrow waterfront pathways, is perfect for documentary photography or landscape sketching that emphasizes the long-standing relationship between humans and the sea a true reflection of Koh Chang’s pioneer spirit.
Klong Son Bay is truly A Place of Contrasts. Whether you seek an afternoon on a panoramic golf course or want to trek through local fruit orchards, Klong Son offers a connection to the island's authentic roots. It is the perfect starting point to tune your senses and prepare for a stay immersed in complete and serene nature.
