“An ancient temple in Tak city housing Luang Pho Hin, a sacred marble Buddha in the Mara Vichai posture, with exquisite architecture blending Lanna and European styles, long a spiritual center for local people.”
Wat Sitalaram is an ancient temple in Tak province, located in Ban Chin, Ra Haeng Subdistrict, Mueang Tak District, in the heart of the community. The front of the temple faces Taksin Road. The temple was originally called Wat Nam Hak because its western area was once next to the Ping River, where the water currents would curve dramatically when the Mae Tho stream flowed strongly into the Ping River, earning it the local name “Wat Nam Hak.” Today, after the riverbanks were filled, this phenomenon no longer occurs.
The temple grounds are shaded with large trees and include monk’s quarters, the ubosot, and old wooden buildings, reflecting local art mixed with European influences. The original ubosot was burned down but has been beautifully rebuilt.
