Pha Charoen Waterfall, located within the Pha Charoen Waterfall National Park, is one of the most significant and renowned landmarks in Phop Phra District, Tak Province. The name Pha Charoen carries an inspiring history, named in honor of Sub-Lieutenant Charoen Pahurat, who served in this area and was among the first to discover and promote the beauty of these falls to the public. Its most iconic feature is being a limestone waterfall, fed by the Pha Charoen stream as it cascades down a steep cliff into a staggering 97 tiers. The magic of this waterfall lies in the frequency and consistency of its limestone ledges, which transform the flowing water into delicate white curtains that drape down in a surprisingly orderly fashion, as if meticulously crafted by hand. Furthermore, due to the naturally rough and porous texture of limestone, the rocks here are far less slippery than those of shale or other rock-based waterfalls, allowing visitors to explore safely and more closely than at typical falls.

Beyond the stunning waterfall itself, from July to September, the surrounding area is painted with the vibrant hues of the Orange Siam Tulip, a specific species found abundantly in Phop Phra District. • From Mae Sot, take Highway No. 1090 (Mae Sot–Umphang route) toward Phop Phra District. The national park is located at Kilometer 37 on the left side of the road. The paved entrance allows easy access for all types of vehicles.

• Combo Trip: Consider stopping at Thanarak Waterfall (Km. 26) along the same route before reaching Pha Charoen Waterfall.

• Preparation: During the rainy season, bring an umbrella or raincoat, as humidity is high and rainfall is frequent.

• Recommended Activities: Ideal for family picnics (please take all trash with you) and waterfall photography using a tripod for smooth, flowing water effects.
