“Be amazed by the majestic Sunantha Waterfall cascading down a steep cliff and explore the nature study trail featuring the rare giant staghorn fern.”

Khao Nan National Park spans a vast area across Tha Sala, Nopphitam, and Sichon districts, making it one of the most remarkable natural gateways in southern Thailand. In Tha Sala District, the park headquarters serves as the main access point to Sunantha Waterfall, locally known as Khao Nan Waterfall. This medium-sized waterfall is distinguished by water flowing dramatically from a high rocky cliff into a wide, crystal-clear pool below, which is suitable and safe for swimming.

Along the Sunantha nature study trail, visitors can enjoy the sounds of birds and may encounter rare wildlife such as serow or barking deer, as well as the impressive giant staghorn fern, an ancient fern species with broad, fan-shaped leaves that thrives only in fertile forests. Traveling north into Sichon District reveals the beauty of Haew Si Thong Waterfall, a multi-tiered waterfall with seven levels. The fourth tier stands out with its wide rock platform where water gently flows across the surface.

Nearby, Khlong Pao Waterfall and Khlong Phao Waterfall offer smaller, quieter cascades surrounded by lush forest, ideal for visitors seeking a peaceful and private natural setting. For adventure seekers in Nopphitam District, Hong Cave presents a unique experience with a stream flowing through the cave and stalactites and stalagmites shaped like swans, inviting exploration through cool, clear water.

Those wishing to challenge themselves can trek to the summit of Khao Nan Peak, standing at 1,438 meters above sea level. This overnight hiking route rewards travelers with breathtaking views of sea mist and cloud forest landscapes. Parts of the park also connect to Khlong Ching Forest, creating the scenic Khlong Ching viewpoint, where layered mountain ranges stretch endlessly into the distance.

All water sources from Khao Nan form the origin of Khlong Klai River, which flows through Tha Sala and sustains local orchards and community life. The park headquarters area is well maintained, with landscaped grounds and designated camping areas for those who wish to wake up to fresh air and sunlight filtering through the forest canopy.

Park rangers are friendly and ready to share knowledge about the complex watershed ecosystem. Khao Nan National Park is not just a tourist destination but a valuable natural heritage that brings together caves, waterfalls, and mountain peaks in one place. The tranquility of the forest, combined with the sound of flowing water and the scent of tropical rainforest, helps restore energy and peace of mind. Standing near Sunantha Waterfall or reaching the summit of Khao Nan offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience for true nature lovers.
