The Chapel Bridge or called Kapellbrücke in German is a covered wooden pedestrain bridge across the Reuss River in the central city of Lucerne. Built in 1333, Lucerne's main landmark, the Chapel Bridge, features a number of interior paintings dating back in the 17th century.
In August 1993, the Chapel Bridge was seriously damaged by fire, to be rebuilt within just eight months. It is the oldest covered bridge in Europe as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge.
The octagonal water tower was a watchtower in the 13th century and later became a jail and torture chamber.
- As a pedestrain bridge, anyone can go and use any time.
- Good time to take a picture is during: 09.00 - 12.00 hrs and 16.00 - 18.00 hrs.
