This pagoda was built first before the Shwedagon Pagoda and it was believed that it was the time of Bhudda 2500 year ago. The Sule Pagoda has been the focal point of both Yangon and Burmese politics. Burmese culture became more independent of its South Indian influences, local architectural forms began to change the shape of the pagoda. 

This pagoda contains some of the relic of the Bhudda same in Shwedagon Pagoda, in this pagoda you will see the hair of the Bhudda some of the hair is in Shwedagon Pagoda. The golden pagoda is unusual in that its octagonal shape continues right up to the bell and inverted bowl.
