“See "Hin Ta Toh" (Grandfather Rock), a granite formation resembling a person sitting on a cliff. Enjoy panoramic views of parallel bays from John-Suwan Viewpoint. Relax on Freedom Beach, a hidden clear-water beach. Hike along scenic coastal trails and rocky shores.”
Laem Ta Toh (Cape Ta Toh) is one of the most beautiful viewpoints on Koh Tao. Located at the southern tip of the island, it combines the beauty of small beaches, clear seas, and unique granite formations, making it a must-visit spot for all tourists.
A Symbol of the Southern Sea
Laem Ta Toh is distinguished by Hin Ta Toh (Grandfather Rock), a large granite formation eroded by wind and seawater into a shape resembling a person sitting and gazing at the vast sea. It has become a significant symbol of Koh Tao, and tourists often come to take photos and check in with this rock.
Beaches and Rocky Shores
The cape features four small beaches, including Freedom Beach and hidden coves tucked among the rocks. The clear seawater is perfect for swimming or relaxing. Brightly colored rocks scattered around the cape provide beautiful photo opportunities and a chance to get close to nature.
Flora and Ecosystem
The area is covered with dense thickets and coconut trees. Various native plants and vines thrive here, providing a habitat for seabirds and small animals such as rock crabs and coastal lizards.
Viewpoints and Trails
Laem Ta Toh is the starting point of the trail to John-Suwan Viewpoint, offering views of Chalok Baan Kao Bay and Thian Og Bay curving towards each other. This panoramic view is one of the most beautiful photo spots on Koh Tao. Additionally, the coastal and rocky trails offer places to rest and study nature.
