“A popular rest stop on Mittraphap Road, famous for its sweet corn and fresh corn milk from the farm, a product of research from Kasetsart University. It's perfect for souvenir shopping and a relaxing stop along the way.”
Suwan Sweet Corn Farm, officially known as the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center, under the Intrichantharat Institute for Plant Science Research and Development, Kasetsart University (KU), is a key agricultural and tourism destination in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It's more than just a souvenir shop but also plays a key role in the comprehensive research and development of corn, sorghum, and other field crops. All products sold are the result of high-quality academic work.
This land has a long history, beginning with Thana Farm, which was later donated to Kasetsart University in 1965 for use as an internship and research center. Since then, Suwan Farm has become the source of renowned, high-quality sweet corn, which continues to be cultivated year-round for sale to passersby.
For tourists, Suwan Farm is an agri-tourism destination offering a relaxing experience amidst nature. The giant corn sign in front of the shop is often a popular photo spot. Seasonal views of various crop fields, such as fields of hemp or beautiful corn fields surrounded by mountains, may be enjoyed.
Within the service area, there is a bustling souvenir shop, with its main products freshly produced daily: corn milk, with its rich, naturally sweet flavor, and freshly boiled sweet corn on the cob. Processed corn and other crops are also available, such as cookies, pies, and corn milk ice cream. Nearby, there is also a cafe where visitors can stop for a drink and enjoy the farm atmosphere. For those interested in learning about agriculture, the center offers tours and activities to learn about the production and harvesting processes.
