“A famous organic vegetable garden in Wang Nam Khiao, covering an area of over 15 rai, is an agricultural tourist attraction open for visitors and selling fresh produce all year round. You'll also get to meet "Uncle Krai Chomnoi," the farmer and artist who owns the garden, who creates a unique identity by singing and playing the guitar for the vegetables.”
Wang Nam Khiao Village, Suan Lung Kai, or Lung Krai’s Organic Vegetable Farm, stands as a successful and sustainable model for agri-tourism in Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province—an area often cited as one of the world’s top seven ozone-rich locations.
Founding and Philosophical Principles: Lung Krai’s farm was one of the pioneers in cultivating salad vegetables and cool-climate crops in Wang Nam Khiao. The owner, Lung Krai Chomnoi, strictly adheres to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). The farm is a genuine learning center that showcases self-reliance, organic farming practices, and sustainable agricultural methods.
Main Produce and Crop Varieties: The farm operates on over 15 rai (approximately 6 acres), focusing on year-round production through crop rotation. The main cash crops are salad greens, with up to six varieties available, including Green Oak, Red Oak, Cos, Iceberg, Red Leaf, and Butterhead. Other significant produce includes heirloom cherry tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, purple cabbage, baby carrots, and various seasonal fruits. The farm also sells processed products made from its fresh harvest.
The Unique "Agri-Artist" (Singing to the Vegetables): The key feature that sets Suan Lung Krai apart is Lung Krai’s role as the "Agri-Artist." He is known for his friendly demeanor and, most notably, his unique practice of "singing to the vegetables." He plays his acoustic guitar and serenades the crops with country or Thai folk songs, believing that the music provides "food for the ears of people and spiritual food for the vegetables." This engaging activity is a highlight for tourists.
Farm Stay and Facilities: Within the compound, the farm offers accommodation called Wangnamkeaw Village. This farm stay option allows visitors to immerse themselves in the farm life experience, waking up to the cool, clean air of Wang Nam Khiao and taking morning strolls through the vegetable plots. Facilities typically include Wi-Fi access, parking, an on-site restaurant, and beautifully maintained garden areas.
Community Farm Outlet: Suan Lung Krai functions as a Community Farm Outlet, where tourists can purchase freshly harvested, chemical-free vegetables and produce directly from the fields at reasonable prices. The outlet also features local OTOP (One Tambon One Product) items from the Suk Sombun community and surrounding areas, contributing to sustainable local income generation.
