“Wang Nam Khiao Farm is an agricultural tourism destination and the largest learning center in the Northeastern region. It is known as one of Thailand's top ozone sources. The farm cultivates a variety of organic temperate mushrooms.”
Wang Nam Khiao Farm was established with the vision of becoming a comprehensive center for modern agricultural learning, focusing primarily on the cultivation of mushrooms and medicinal herbs in a high-ozone area—often dubbed the "Switzerland of Isaan." The farm is more than just a retail space; it is a place where visitors can experience the entire production process, from cultivation to harvest, and gain a deep understanding of the nutritional value and medicinal properties of the various crops.
Mushroom Cultivation Houses and Laboratory Zone
The heart of the farm lies in its numerous large-scale cold-weather mushroom houses. These houses maintain strictly controlled temperature and humidity using an advanced air conditioning system, ensuring that various mushroom species—such as shiitake, reishi (lingzhi), lion's mane, Hungarian oyster mushroom, and king oyster (eringi)—can thrive year-round. Visitors are given practical demonstrations on mushroom spawn preparation, substrate care, and the standardized, organic harvesting process. Expert guides provide in-depth knowledge on the life cycle of each mushroom variety, explaining the differences between species and their specific health benefits, such as the immune-boosting properties of Reishi or the purported neuro-supportive benefits of Lion's Mane.
Museum and Wangwan Product Zone
The farm is closely affiliated with the well-known "Wangwan" brand, famous for its herbal and traditional Thai medicine products. Consequently, the farm features fascinating exhibition areas, including a Traditional Thai Medicine Recipe Museum. This museum showcases ancient medical tools, rare herbal texts, and medicinal raw materials used in traditional preparations, serving to preserve Thai indigenous wisdom. Visitors learn how mushrooms and herbs are processed into various health products, such as herbal teas, massage oils, the famous Wangwan balm, and dietary supplements derived from Reishi and other fungi. This zone offers an opportunity to purchase Wangwan products at farm prices and often includes demonstrations of certain product-making processes.
Restaurant and Café Zone
For those who wish to taste the farm's produce directly, there is an on-site restaurant and café offering healthy menus that prominently feature mushrooms and organic hydroponic vegetables grown on the premises. Popular dishes include fresh, crisp hydroponic salads; spicy mixed mushroom salad (Yam Hed Ruam); various mushroom curries; and creative specialties like mushroom ice cream, which has a unique flavor profile. Herbal drinks and coffee are also available. The restaurant focuses on preparing food with minimal oil and artificial seasonings, prioritizing nutritional value and promoting the consumption of clean and safe food.
Crop Zones and Photo Spots
In addition to mushrooms, the farm cultivates various other crops, including Japanese melons and organic salad greens grown in controlled greenhouses. Visitors can walk through the vegetable patches and purchase freshly harvested produce based on the season. Utilizing the naturally beautiful scenery of Wang Nam Khiao—which is characterized by surrounding mountains and cool air year-round—the farm has created numerous photo opportunities. These include a large, heart-shaped rock symbolizing love and fertility and sections decorated with colorful mushroom figurines, making it a must-visit check-in spot for guests.
