Wat Khot Thim Tharam is an ancient temple of historical and religious significance in Rayong Province. Located in Tha Pradu Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, it is popularly known as "Wat Khot," a name derived from the original sandbar along the Rayong River. This temple is one of the oldest in the province and has a long history rooted in local tradition. Several sources indicate its construction during the late Ayutthaya period, and it is speculated that the builder was a Rayong governor named "Tim," hence the name "Tim Tharam" (meaning Tim the Temple).

The temple has served as a religious and community center for the people of Rayong for hundreds of years. Within the temple grounds, traces of traditional architecture and art reflecting the craftsmanship of local artisans of the past are still evident. Although some structures have been renovated in later periods due to deterioration of the original buildings, the overall atmosphere remains peaceful, simple, and distinctly imbued with local history. Tourists often enjoy exploring the main chapel, the wooden vihara, and other ancient structures within the temple grounds, which reflect the past prosperity of the community along the Rayong River.

One of the most important objects of faith for the villagers is "Luang Pho Khao," an ancient Buddha statue enshrined in a wooden chapel on the north side of the main temple. The statue is notable for its white stucco construction, depicting the Maravijaya posture (victory over Mara), and has been revered by the people of Rayong for a long time. Although there is no definitive evidence of its exact date of creation, it is believed to be roughly the same age as the temple itself. The chapel retains the atmosphere of a traditional ancient temple, allowing visitors to experience tranquility and sacredness. Furthermore, the old main temple houses murals depicting the Jataka tales (stories of the Buddha's previous lives), the work of local artisans showcasing the traditional art of the Eastern region.

Over the centuries, Wat Khod Timtharam has experienced both periods of prosperity and decline due to lack of maintenance. Many ancient buildings suffered damage due to the age of the materials and the environment. In later centuries, restoration and the construction of new buildings were undertaken to ensure the temple could fully support religious activities, particularly the new main temple which replaced the smaller and dilapidated original structure. However, the temple continues to strive to preserve its remaining historical significance, allowing future generations to learn about this ancient temple alongside the way of life of the Rayong community.

Today, Wat Khod Timtharam is not just a place for religious ceremonies, but also an important cultural tourist attraction in Rayong province. Tourists interested in history, art, and ancient Thai architecture often visit to admire the beauty of the old wooden vihara, the murals, and the traditional community atmosphere surrounding the temple. Especially during the Songkran festival every year, the temple holds its annual worship ceremony from April 13–15, a significant tradition passed down through generations. This is a time when villagers and devotees from many areas come to make merit and pay homage to Luang Pho Khao (the White Buddha).
