“Thailand’s longest freshwater bridge, a dinosaur landmark of Kalasin, a stunning sunset viewpoint over Lam Pao Dam, easy to access, million-baht view.”
Thepsuda Bridge is a large concrete bridge spanning across the waters of Lam Pao Dam in Kalasin Province, Thailand. It is approximately 2,040 meters long and is recognized as the longest freshwater bridge in Thailand. The bridge was developed to connect transportation routes between Sahatsakhan District and Nong Kung Si District, as well as to improve the regional transport and logistics network in upper northeastern Thailand. Its main purpose is to reduce travel distance, lower logistics costs, and enhance the efficiency of agricultural transportation in areas surrounding Lam Pao Dam.
Thepsuda Bridge was graciously named by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, reflecting the national importance of the project. The structure is a reinforced concrete bridge with two traffic lanes, designed to support both passenger vehicles and cargo transport while withstanding the environmental conditions above a large reservoir. After its official opening on November 22, 2011, the bridge became a key route that significantly reduces travel time between important areas within Kalasin Province and nearby provinces.
In addition to its transportation role, Thepsuda Bridge has also become a popular tourist attraction, especially around Lan Pho Nao Wiset, which has been developed into a scenic viewpoint and recreational area along the reservoir.Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Lam Pao Dam, including beautiful sunset reflections over the water in the evening. The surrounding area also features floating restaurants and local community shops serving traditional Isan cuisine such as grilled fish and fresh freshwater dishes from the dam, making it a popular relaxation spot for tourists.Thepsuda Bridge therefore plays an important role in transportation, economy, and tourism, and remains one of the most iconic landmarks of Kalasin Province.
