Pha Kep Tawan is one of the most prominent and well-known tourist attractions in Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It is situated within the boundaries of Thap Lan National Park, a vast area that is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with Khao Yai National Park. Consequently, this region boasts a highly rich ecosystem and high biodiversity.

The name "Pha Kep Tawan" literally translates to "Cliff that Keeps the Sun," stemming from the geographical characteristic of the cliff face, which points towards the west. This orientation allows visitors to capture spectacular views of the setting sun, making it the most ideal location in Wang Nam Khiao to witness a sunset. However, during the cool season, many tourists also flock here to enjoy the stunning sea of mist in the early morning, as the complex, interwoven hills below become blanketed in a thick veil of fog, creating a breathtaking and impressive vista.

The climate at Pha Kep Tawan is pleasantly cool year-round—a quality that has earned the Wang Nam Khiao area the nickname "Switzerland of the Northeast." The temperature remains relatively low throughout the day, and the air is exceptionally clean due to the vast surrounding forest. Access to the main cliff area is convenient, with ample parking and well-maintained walkways provided for visitor safety.

Beyond being a scenic viewpoint, Pha Kep Tawan is also famous for its conservation activity called "Slingshot Reforestation." This initiative allows tourists to participate in the restoration of degraded forest areas by purchasing seeds of native plants and launching them into the forest below using a slingshot. This method provides an enjoyable way to contribute to reforestation with minimal ecological disruption.

For tourists wishing to experience the twilight hours and the peaceful early morning, Pha Kep Tawan provides a large and excellently managed campsite. It offers basic amenities, including restroom facilities. Staying overnight allows visitors to wake up and witness the sea of mist and sunrise without the rush of an early morning drive.

Near the viewpoint, the National Park provides welfare shops offering hot beverages, snacks, and small souvenirs, ensuring that the tourist experience here is well-equipped and comprehensive.

• Private car: Travel along Highway No. 304 (Kabin Buri–Pak Thong Chai). When you reach Wang Nam Khiao District, turn onto Rural Highway No. 3200 (Soi Thai Samakkhi) and continue following the signs until you reach Thap Lan National Park.

• Best Time: Arrive before sunset (around 4:30-5:00 PM) to easily find the viewpoint and parking.

• Camping: If you're planning to camp, please contact the park office in advance during festivals or long holidays.

• Preparation: Mornings and evenings can be quite chilly, so bring warm clothing and sun protection for the daytime.

The entrance fee is as determined by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation for Thap Lan National Park.
