Mango Bay is a large, shallow bay located on the northernmost point of Koh Tao and is one of the most popular diving spots on the island. The bay curves deeply into the land, surrounded by mountains and granite rocks on almost all sides, making it difficult for waves to enter. As a result, the seawater is calm, clear, and beautifully emerald in color contrasting with the deep blue water. The surrounding atmosphere is lush, providing a natural and highly private feel.

Area Characteristics and Ecosystem: The bay is quite wide, but the beach area is not very large, focusing mainly on diving. It has an average depth of about 10 meters and has deep-water rocky outcrops along the coastline, which are home to a large number of marine life.

Diver's Paradise: Due to the gently sloping sandy bottom and relatively calm water, Mango Bay is suitable for both snorkeling and introductory scuba diving, especially for beginners. You can find schools of butterflyfish, parrotfish, angelfish, and colorful fish from chest-deep water, including healthy coral reefs.

Marine Abundance: The underwater area is notable for its beautiful coral and rare creatures such as purple sponges and nudibranchs, which can be easily found. In addition, there are schools of various fish swimming in the clear water, making it a popular destination for divers and underwater photographers.

Peace and Privacy: Due to the difficult land access (steep and off-road), Mango Bay remains quiet and not as crowded as Sairee Beach. It is suitable for those who want a quiet getaway or to charter a boat for private diving activities. It is also suitable for family vacations.

Origin of the Name: In the past, there were many wild mango trees in the area around the bay, so locals called it "Mango Bay."

• By Boat (Highly Recommended): Charter a longtail boat from Mae Haad Pier or Sairee Beach. It takes about 15–20 minutes and offers views of the island.

• Car/Motorbike: Use a 4WD or off-road vehicle. The road is very steep and rough (not recommended for inexperienced drivers).

• Best Lighting Period: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Sunlight shines directly into the water, making the coral and fish colors the most visible.

• Chartering a Boat is Worth it: If you are in a group, you should charter a boat. You can visit many spots in one day.

• Help Protect the Coral: Avoid stepping on or touching the coral and do not litter in the sea.

• Prepare Equipment: You should bring your own diving equipment and drinking water, as there are limited shops.

• Safety First: Always wear a life jacket, especially for those who are not strong swimmers.

• If entering through the resort area on the shore, there may be a fee of approximately 100 – 200 Baht.
