Pom Phet Bastion is an artillery fort situated on the northern section of the city wall. Its arrowhead-shaped design features a slightly inclined staircase to facilitate moving cannons up and down the fort. The structure follows a European-style bastion design and is believed to have been constructed between the late Sukhothai period and early Ayutthaya period (20th–21st Buddhist century).

The bastion was built as a cannon fort and observation point to defend against enemies approaching from the north. Its design allows for multi-directional defense, reflecting the city’s ancient military strategy.

The fort is constructed from large laterite blocks, the main building material of ancient Kamphaeng Phet, giving it strength and durability against weather and erosion over time. The arrowhead layout allows effective protection from multiple directions.

Today, Pom Phet Bastion remains well-preserved. Visitors can clearly see the main structure, the foundation, and the distinctive inclined stairways. In addition, it is located near other city walls and gates, allowing visitors to continue their exploration and study the historical architecture of old Kamphaeng Phet.

Pom Phet Bastion is an integral part of Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park and represents a significant example of ancient city defense and architecture, holding important cultural and World Heritage value.

By car:

• From Kamphaeng Phet city center, drive via Phitsanulok–Kamphaeng Phet Road or main roads leading to the old city area.

• Look for Pom Phet Bastion along the northern city wall.

• Parking is available along nearby streets (be cautious as these are public roads).

By bicycle or walking:

• The bastion is in the heart of the old city and can be easily explored on foot or by bicycle.

• The surrounding paths are ideal for historical walking tours, taking about 30–45 minutes to see the bastion and nearby city walls.

By public transport/taxi:

• Take a taxi or local hired car in Kamphaeng Phet.

• Tell the driver to go to Pom Phet Bastion or the northern city wall.

• It is recommended to get off near the bastion for convenient access.

• Take photos in early morning or late afternoon for soft light and cooler temperatures.

• Combine the visit with a walk along nearby city walls and gates.

• Wear suitable shoes for walking on uneven laterite surfaces.

• Bring water and a hat as it is an outdoor historical site.

• Allow 30–45 minutes to explore the bastion and surrounding areas fully.
