“Marvel at the 34-meter underwater tunnel featuring giant Mekong catfish, rare river species, and daily feeding shows by divers that captivate visitors of all ages.”

The Nong Khai Aquarium, also known as the Sirindhorn Aquarium, serves as the largest aquatic learning center in Northeastern Thailand. Located within the Khon Kaen University, Nong Khai Campus, it was graciously named by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The facility is meticulously designed to showcase the vast biodiversity of the Mekong River basin. Inside, visitors can explore over 30 tanks, with the primary highlight being the 34-meter-long underwater tunnel. This tunnel provides a breathtaking experience, simulating a stroll beneath the Mekong River and the open sea, allowing for a 360-degree observation of aquatic life in a near-natural environment.

The exhibitions are categorized into freshwater, brackish water, and marine sections, with a significant emphasis on the giants of the Mekong, such as the "Mekong Giant Catfish"—the world's largest scaleless freshwater fish. Other showcased species include Black Ear Catfish, Siamese Giant Carp, and various exotic ornamental fish. Beyond being a tourist attraction, the aquarium plays a vital role in research and the conservation of endangered species, aiming to preserve aquatic resources for future generations. It stands as a premier destination that harmoniously blends natural science education with a high-quality recreational experience for all visitors.
