“Pay homage to the world’s largest Luang Pho Ngern statue, visit the historic wooden vihara where he once resided, and worship sacred amulets from the Thai Nam lineage, all within a serene and spiritually rich atmosphere.”

Wat Thai Nam, also known as Wat Kao Luang Pho Ngern, is an important historical and spiritual landmark of Phichit Province. The temple was established around 2423 BE (1880 AD) and named after Thai Nam Village, meaning the downstream area of the Nan River. It received its royal consecration (Wisungkhamsima) on 23 August 1956 and has undergone continuous restoration and development ever since.

A History of Faith:

Wat Thai Nam holds profound significance in the life of Luang Pho Ngern Phutthachoti, as he resided here for approximately 35–40 years. During his long stay, he played a vital role in developing the temple, initiating the construction of religious buildings and permanent structures. As a result, Wat Thai Nam is inseparably linked to the spiritual legacy of Luang Pho Ngern, prior to his later residence at Wat Bang Khlan.

The World’s Largest Luang Pho Ngern Statue:

The most striking highlight of the temple is the world’s largest seated meditation statue of Luang Pho Ngern, finished in radiant gold. Standing prominently in an open area, it can be seen from afar and serves as a central point of devotion for visitors seeking blessings, prosperity, and spiritual encouragement.

Historic Wooden Vihara and Luang Pho Ngern Museum:

The temple preserves the historic wooden vihara where Luang Pho Ngern once resided, alongside modern developments for education and heritage preservation. In 2003, a traditional Thai-style house with wax figures and the Luang Pho Ngern Museum vihara was established to present his life story, teachings, and contributions for future generations.

Atmosphere and Surroundings:

The temple grounds are carefully landscaped into shady garden areas. Located along the Thai Nam Canal, the front of the temple is adorned with large Bodhi trees, creating a peaceful, simple, and spiritually uplifting environment. The setting is especially pleasant in the early morning and late afternoon, ideal for meditation, quiet walks, and mental relaxation.
