“This striking architectural building houses a comprehensive collection of personal belongings, medals and decorations, and a multimedia exhibition that tells the story of "Pa Prem's" integrity and dedication to public service, making it the most complete collection of its kind in Northeastern Thailand.”
The Hall of Fame for Statesman General Prem Tinsulanonda is situated within the Prem Tinsulanonda Camp in Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province. This landmark serves as far more than a conventional exhibition hall; it is a profound monument to the memory, spirit, and unwavering ideology of a statesman who stood as a paragon of integrity and self-sacrifice for the Thai nation. The architectural design of the building exudes elegance and dignity, housing a systematically organized collection that narrates the extraordinary life of "Pa Prem." The journey begins from his childhood in Songkhla Province, tracing his path through a military career defined by strict discipline and bravery. The exhibits cover his formative years at Suankularb Wittayalai School and Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, leading up to his pivotal role as the Commander of the 2nd Army Region, where he made immense contributions to resolving conflicts and developing the Northeastern region of Thailand.
A significant portion of the exhibition is dedicated to his tenure as the 16th Prime Minister of Thailand, a period spanning 8 years and 5 months. This era is widely recognized as a turning point in Thai history, characterized by the establishment of solid economic foundations through initiatives like the Eastern Seaboard Development Project. Most notably, it highlights his strategic brilliance in implementing the "Politics before Military" policy under Order No. 66/2523, which successfully ended the long-standing internal conflict with communist insurgents and restored peace and unity to the nation. Inside the hall, visitors can explore a rare collection of personal artifacts, including various military uniforms, prestigious royal decorations and orders from both domestic and international sources, and honorary gifts from world leaders. A replica of his study room is also on display, featuring simple and modest belongings that clearly reflect his humble lifestyle and unpretentious character.
Beyond historical facts, visitors gain a deep understanding of his life philosophy, particularly his immortal motto: "Being born into this world, one must repay the debt of gratitude to the land." This ethos is woven into every aspect of the display. Throughout his life, General Prem was a steadfast supporter of arts, music, and youth education. Consequently, this Hall of Fame functions as an "outdoor classroom," teaching future generations the value of virtue, loyalty to the monarchy, and the importance of working for the public interest above all else. Surrounded by the serene and lush landscape of the military camp, the Statesman Hall of Fame is a prestigious destination for students, researchers, and tourists alike who seek inspiration from the life of a man who devoted every breath to the service of his country.
