“Its distinctive feature is that the waterfall doesn't cascade from a high cliff but rather flows along a wide, gently sloping rock formation, creating a long and beautiful stream. Children can play in the water like a slide, and there are many uniquely shaped rocks perfect for taking photos.”

Preecha Suksan Waterfall, situated within the Dong Chomphu Phan and Dong Kachoe National Reserved Forest in the heart of the Phu Phan Mountains, Sakon Nakhon, is a remarkable geological wonder. It is characterized as a "Sheet Flow Waterfall," a rare and stunning natural formation where water flows across an extensive, inclined sandstone plateau rather than dropping from a vertical height_. This massive sandstone bed stretches over 100 meters in length and spans dozens of meters in width_. As the water originates from the higher altitudes of the Phu Phan range, it spreads thinly and evenly across the rock surface, creating a shimmering veil of water. Over centuries, the continuous flow has eroded the sandstone, sculpting smooth, curvilinear grooves that serve as "natural water slides," allowing visitors to safely glide along the rock with the current.

The surrounding ecosystem is a vibrant tapestry of deciduous dipterocarp and dry evergreen forests. Dominant tree species such as Dipterocarpus alatus, Shorea robusta, and Shorea siamensis. intricatus provide a dense canopy, keeping the area cool and humid. The rocks near the water are often carpeted with emerald-green mosses and various fern species that thrive in the constant mist. During the peak monsoon season (June to October), the waterfall transforms into a powerful display of nature, with frothy white currents contrasting against the dark, wet sandstone. As the season transitions into the early cool months, the water becomes crystal clear, revealing the intricate textures of the rock bed beneath. Beyond its recreational appeal, Preecha Suksan serves as an essential ecological classroom. Short nature trails surrounding the falls offer glimpses into the region's biodiversity, from rare insects and vibrant butterflies to endemic birds that populate the forest. This destination is a perfect harmony of geological artistry, adventure, and the serene, untouched wilderness of Northeastern Thailand.
