“A relaxing tourist attraction on the banks of Lam Plai Mat Reservoir, which is like a 'beach' in Siang Sang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, stands out with its beautiful scenery, perfect for swimming, watching the sunset, and camping.”

Had Chom Tawan is not just a typical freshwater beach; it is one of the most significant leisure destinations in the Soeng Sang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province. It is located within the area of Thap Lan National Park Sector 4 (also known as the Thap Lan National Park Protection Unit 4 or Lam Plai Mas). The area was created by the construction of the Lam Plai Mas Dam, a large reservoir that dams the Lam Plai Mas River. This resulted in an expansive body of water resembling a massive freshwater lake, featuring beautiful scenery similar to a real beachfront, especially during the dry season when lower water levels reveal a wide sandy area.

The location is popularly known as the "Inland Sea of Korat" or the "Northeastern Beach" and offers visitors the full experience of waterside relaxation. Tourists can swim safely in designated areas. Particularly on weekends or long holidays, the area bustles with people who come to spread mats to enjoy meals or swim to cool off. Beyond swimming, various water activities are available, including the rental of equipment such as inner tubes, kayaks, or even large rafts for groups wishing to cruise and enjoy the views up close on the reservoir.

In addition to being a swimming spot, Had Chom Tawan is a paradise for camping and overnight stays. The National Park authority has prepared a spacious camping area right by the water, offering particularly stunning views in the evening as the sun sets over the water. In the morning, a thin layer of mist often hovers over the water, creating a fresh and romantic atmosphere. Camping here is considered a memorable experience for those looking to escape the city's hustle.

The site also provides basic amenities such as restrooms and showers. Local shops, restaurants, and community stalls are available in the surrounding area, offering convenience to tourists who want to sample local Northeastern (Isaan) delicacies and regional foods of Nakhon Ratchasima, such as grilled fish (Pla Phao) and papaya salad (Som Tum). A portion of the area's management is overseen by the local community, which helps distribute income and foster sustainable tourism in the region.
