“Colorful temperate vegetable plots with demonstration greenhouses and sustainable agriculture knowledge from the Royal Project.”

Organic Vegetable Demonstration Plots and Temperate Crop Gardens, Ang Khang Royal Agricultural Station (Organic Vegetable Plots) is an agricultural learning area in the highlands within Ang Khang Royal Agricultural Station. It is the first agricultural station of the Royal Project, established under royal initiative to research, develop, and improve the cultivation of temperate crops suitable for the climate of Doi Ang Khang, while supporting stable livelihoods for farmers and highland communities.

The demonstration plot area displays a wide variety of temperate vegetables, including purple and curly green fancy cabbages, iceberg lettuce, red oak lettuce, green oak lettuce, broccoli, and head lettuce. The vegetables are planted in orderly rows according to cultivation plans, creating beautiful patterns of green, purple, and red across the fields. It is ideal for strolling, taking photographs, and enjoying the natural atmosphere of Doi Ang Khang.

The area also includes cultivation greenhouses that reflect appropriate crop-care practices, helping reduce risks from plant diseases and insects while managing environmental conditions suitable for the growth of temperate crops. Visitors can learn about the overall production process, from soil preparation and seedling propagation to plot maintenance, water management, and harvesting.

Cultivation in this area focuses on safe agriculture and sustainable agriculture, emphasizing soil care, efficient water use, agricultural waste management, and appropriate pest control. Plant residues are also put to good use, such as through the production of biological compost, which helps nourish the soil, reduce waste, and support an environmentally friendly production system.

In addition to being an agricultural tourism attraction, the demonstration plots play a role in transferring knowledge to highland farmers, including crop selection, cultivation planning, quality vegetable production, and value-added production. These efforts help support stable livelihoods for communities, promote appropriate land use, and encourage the sustainable conservation of natural resources in highland areas.

The types of vegetables, the colors of the plots, and the visiting atmosphere may change according to the season, cultivation plans, and harvesting cycles. The cool season through early summer is often especially pleasant for viewing temperate crops, so visitors may encounter different vegetables and landscapes on each visit.

This demonstration area is suitable for those interested in organic agriculture, temperate vegetables, the Royal Project, and educational tourism, as well as families wishing to help children understand the origins of food and agriculture more closely. Visitors should follow designated paths, avoid touching or picking vegetables from the plots, and follow staff instructions so that the area can continue serving as a learning center and a source of quality produce.

After visiting the vegetable plots, travelers can continue exploring other attractions within Ang Khang Royal Agricultural Station, such as the Bonsai Garden, flower greenhouses, Suan 80, and the Royal Project Cooperative Shop, where fresh vegetables, fruit, and Royal Project products are available to purchase as souvenirs.
